How can I join Students for Shelters?
In order to join Students for Shelters, you must first find out if your academic institution already has a chapter. If you attend an institution that has a running chapter, you may join through them. If you attend an academic institution that does not have a chapter, you may contact us to set one up.
I am interested in starting a chapter of Students for Shelters at my school. How does this work?
If you are looking to create a chapter of Students for Shelters at your academic institution please use the "Contact" page to send us an email. We are more than happy to walk you through the process.
Are all chapters the same?
Each chapter is unique in their own way! Although all chapters utilize the same constitution and rules of governance, all chapters cater to their local community. This means that the mission of each chapter is the same, but the needs which are provided for can be different.

For example, one chapter might focus more on access to food and nutrition and another might focus more on access to education and literacy. The goal of does not change, only the area of assistance!
Can I attend meetings and events if I'm not a member?
Non-members who are students, staff, or faculty at an institution with an active chapter may attend chapter meetings based on the jurisdiction of the institution. They may also attend any/all events run by the chapter.
For the safety of all members and non-members with institutional affiliations, those who are not affiliated with an academic institution with an active chapter are unable to attend any meetings. If you are interested in attending an event, please ensure that you notify the chapter beforehand - unless they have explicitly made known that the event is open to the public.
